During a speech on Thursday at a meeting of NATO leaders in Brussels, US President Donald Trump called on the alliance's other members to "finally contribute their fair share" for defense. He said 23 out of the 28 members, including many that owe "massive" sums, are not doing so. Trump wants the other member states to boost their spending on NATO defense to two percent of their GDP. He did not state a position on Article 5 of the alliance's founding treaty that states an attack on one member is an attack on all members.
