“North Korea’s most recent missile launch is absolutely intolerable,” said Japanese Prime Minister Abe Sunday. His host, Donald Trump, said after Pyongyang’s first missile test since he took office as prssident three weeks ago: "I just want everybody to understand and fully know that the United States of America stands behind Japan, its great ally, 100 percent." After that, the two leaders refused to take questions.
DEBKAfile: The North Korean launch took place in the face of US, South Korean and Japanese warnings of penalties for further missile tests. It was timed to provocatively coincide with the Trump-Abe talks in Florida, after North Korea noted that Iran’s ballistic missile launch five days ago met a low-key response from the Trump administration.
