US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson Friday warned the UN Security Council that the threat of an attack by Pyongyang against Japan and South Korea is real and urged the UN Security Council to act "before North Korea does." He said, "For too long the international community has been reactive in addressing North Korea. Those days must come to an end. Failing to act now on the most pressing security issue in the world may bring catastrophic consequences." Secretary Tillerson called for the full implementation of UN sanctions and other “painful measures” and to suspend or downgrade diplomatic relations with Pyongyang. North Korea must take “concrete steps” towards dismantling nuclear weapons “before we can being talks.”
