Authorities in Moscow said Wednesday afternoon that they received warnings that bombs had been planted at over 12 locations across the city, forcing them to evacuate about 10,000 people from sites such as public institutions, train stations and shopping centers. Bomb squads were said to be sweeping public areas. No other details on the "almost simultaneous" bomb threats were released.
A spokesman for the Russian security services said each of the "telephone terrorism" threats needs to be checked.
