A large-scale IDF simulation of a war with Hizballah involving tens of thousands of troops over the last two weeks in northern Israel came to an end on Thursday. The biggest IDF exercise in 19 years involved ground, air and naval forces. The drill was aimed at improving the preparedness of the Northern Command and the forces in the northern area for a possible war, especially on the Lebanese front.
During the exercise, the troops practiced defense, attack, intelligence and maneuvering capabilities over long periods of time in several zones. They also practiced ways of repelling infiltrations into the Galilee, bringing the fight deep into Lebanese territory and evacuating Israeli communities of tens of thousands of people.
