On Thursday, according to a Capitol police spokesperson in Washington, an "erratic and aggressive" driver failed to halt after she made a U-turn at the bottom of Capitol Hill, almost hitting police officers as she fled. The police then gave chase. At least one policeman opened fire on the driver, who was captured shortly afterwards and taken into custody. The Botanical Gardens were cordoned off and Capitol Hill was said to have been temporarily locked down. According to the spokesperson, the event is considered to be a criminal incident, not terrorism.
